In yet another crash related to Amtrak trains, at least two people have died and scores of nearly one-hundred and twenty others were sent to nearby hospitals after a massive collision took place in South Carolina between a CSX train and the passenger cabins.

The crash took place near the South Carolina city of Columbia. The CSX freight train was not moving on the tracks when the Amtrak slammed into it.

According to Amtrak reports, both of the fatalities were of their own personnel. They confirmed that the previously reported seventy injury counts were untrue and needed to be updated, replacing it with the figure of 116 people.

Reports also confirmed that, although not an imminent threat to the public nearby in the outskirts of Columbia City, 5,000 gallons of fuel spilled out of the CSX freighter.

By pictures and according to the Governor, it appears none of CSX trains' cabins or sectors had been derailed. On the other hand, the engine train and numerous passenger cabins on the Amtrak train derailed following the collision.

The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) launched an investigation of which should take anywhere between 12 and 18 months, CNN reported.

The crash comes only a few days after a January 31st, 2018 crash the day after America's traditional State of the Union address by President Trump. An Amtrak train carrying dozens of Republican lawmakers crashed into a garbage/dump truck, killing two people and injuring numerous others - including two GOP lawmakers.
