Senators Continue Negotiations After Voting on Senate Floor

In a historic moment, it appears that the US Senate has voted to block yet another continuing resolution bill of which temporarily funds the government for a short period of time until a bigger deal can be reached. But nothing is official.

If passed, the continuing resolution (CR) bill would be piled onto a list of at least four other CR's passed within only the last few months in a continuous effort from the Trump administration to avoid a government shutdown or to give Dems their demands. However, it all eventually must come to an end.

By this date, it appears that most Senators weren't too happy with having to pass yet another CR. This one aimed at expanding CHIP, a child insurance program, of which the Democrats really would've liked to have passed. Most Democrats, in unison, seemed to have joined together to reject it in order to build momentum for DACA.

Right now, as the Senate vote had finished though remained 'open' due to rising negotiations on the Senate floor, it appears majority and minority leaders including top-tier Republican and Democrats are trying to negotiate a deal to avoid a shutdown.

However, it appears that the shutdown is approaching very rapidly - and there isn't much that the Senate Republicans can do right now to avoid it.

Numerous Republicans and numerous Democrats have switched their 'partisan'-held side of their aisles in regards to voting for the continuing resolution with some Republicans voting 'No' on the bill and siding for a shutdown and some Democrats trying to vote 'Yes' in order to avoid it; it's unclear what will happen.

Whether or not Senate-floor and live negotiations will head anywhere is unlikely, considering that the Senate would likely have to alter the CR which would lead to the House needing to re-vote on the altered bill; with an unknown fate there. It's doubtful to assume that both the House and Senate can pass such a bill before midnight.
