"Bomb Cyclone": Hurricane Wind Gusts Slam The East Coast Amid Storm

What many are categorizing as a 'hurricane' during the winter season is causing blizzards and hazardous conditions across the United States and Canada. Specifically cities like Boston in Massachusetts and Portland, Maine are under severe threat of a potentially fatal winter storm currently named 'Grayson'.

Grayson moved into the north, though it is around 250 miles off-shore, meaning that the hurricane winds (up to 85 mph winds) were not striking the cities nearby. However, wind gusts proved up to hurricane forces throughout the North-East.

Officials are worried about the storm itself though doubt it will be related to any deaths; saying that the cold that follows the 'hurricane' is what is truly worrying. In recent weeks and throughout the holidays, extremely cold freezing weather devastated the United States and Canada. At least 12 people were reported dead.

Now, as the blizzard-style conditions ravage the East Coast, tens on thousands of citizens have been cut off from power. This as the average temperatures for those cities near freezing (32 F or 0 C) before the freeze wave comes in.

The wave of cold temperatures are expected to be severely 'dangerous' in cities like Boston, Portland, Burlington, New York City, Albany, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City and Halifax; with some lows expanding below the temperature on Mars.
