Severe Winter Storm to Attack US East Coast, Atlantic Canada
GIF: Very short forecast for the next while of winter storm Grayson.
What meteorologists are calling a '#bombcyclone' is about to absolutely slam the east coast of the United States and through multiple of Canada's Atlantic provinces. The process of bombogenesis is the lead cause of this increase in pressure that will lead to extreme snowfall, rainfall, ice and hurricane-force winds in the east.
What was started by the 'great 2017 freeze' that had some Canadian cities with -40°F/C in their Northwest Territories area and record-breaking colds in cities across the United States; as well as more than 6 feet of snow falling on the Pennsylvania city of Eerie breaking all of the town's previous records; now is a massive winter storm.
In the summer or hurricane season, Winter Storm Grayson could easily be considered a small hurricane. With reports of winds as damaging as 60-80 mph, the 'winter hurricane' (or bombcyclone) is about to slam large portions of America.
Snow in Florida
Citizens in Tallahassee, Florida reported that - in a very rare event - snow was actually falling. The snow comes as the freezing temperatures, specifically when talking about 'with wind chills', were below freezing (32° F or 0° C) in almost all of the United States and Canada throughout the 3rd wave of cold temperatures.
With the NOAA and other major US meteorological companies warning citizens to stay inside for the past two weeks during the holiday seasons, and major snowfalls causing delays with travel, the warnings are just seeming to increase as the storm nears.
Grayson's Path
The path of this 'winter hurricane' (but officially called a winter storm) is throughout the US east coast states like South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, parts of Pennsylvania and New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, specifically?: Maine, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and parts of Quebec.
The Atlantic-Canada provinces, Maine as well as majorly populated American cities like New York, Boston and others are the ones of concern as the storm will move in.
