Trump Calls For Bipartisan Work Throughout 2018, Will it Work?

President Trump, after finally overcoming his first major legislative win by passing the GOP tax reform, is now calling for Democrats to work hand-in-hand with Republicans in the US Senate and the House in order to pass bipartisan deals.

Some of his most focused deals he wishes to pass with the help of Democrats this upcoming year of 2018; possibly a major health care reform after 3 failed attempts as well as a $200B infrastructure budget deal following the Amtrak derailment crash that killed 3 people near Tacoma, WA.

There's many questions surrounding the President's attempt to get aid from the Democratic Party. It could be in hopes to become 'friends' with their leaders in order to brush off any attempts of impeachment should Democrats win the 2018 midterms; or it could be to avoid a governmental shut down in January.

But the biggest question isn't why Trump is calling for this; it's whether or not Dems would be willing to forgive all of Trump's harsh words and insulting slurs towards the majority of them and move on hand-in-hand and work with him.

The future of Trump's administration, though unconfirmed at the moment, seems quite bleak. With the 2018 midterms seemingly in favor of the Democrats at their current stance, and the Russia investigation tensing Trump's government up at a major scale, it wouldn't be surprising Trump is trying to deter any negative press coverage by working with Dems in effort to lift their mindset on how he's working.

Not only that; but if President Trump works with Democrats and passes as much as he can before the 2018 midterms, his chances of the GOP and Republicans keeping the House and Senate in 2018 go up dramatically.

That's one of the most probably reasons for the Democrats to deny any bipartisan calls by President Trump. It's incredibly idiotic (in a strategical way) to give Trump's government major wins while working to win for your party in 2018.

Although you may be thinking that the elections might go well for Dems if they work alongside Trump to - potentially - help the American citizens; they know that, as a strategy, it would make Trump and the GOP's presidency seem like a success and make many voters want to continue the onslaught of the Republican majority.

Democrats might choose to work alongside Trump in bipartisan deals for some things like the DACA changes or the infrastructure bill should it not obstruct any of their political ideologies - like the tax plan directly did. However, when it comes to health care, we know both parties are extremely partisan in these terms.

In fact, should a government shut down occur, it'd probably be because of any attempts to change health care placed by the Dems in a crazed way.

There's other reasons for Democrats to avoid working with Trump other than for strict political reasonings and strategies: his consistent attacks on the party's members may ruin any of their attempts to want to help his presidency succeed, ever.

In fact the Dems made it quite clear that should they win the 2018 midterms; the impeachment of Donald Trump may be more than just a fantasy. Not only will they have enough power to House-impeach the president if they win control of the US House of Representatives; but they could also achieve a majority Senate quite easily as for they are only two seats away from taking over after the Alabama race.

And if they win the Senate and House majority; it'd be quite easy to impeach Trump by the House and obstruct any attempts for the GOP to do literally anything. It'd be an incredible way to shut down the Trump presidency for good.

So, want to ask again, why is Trump trying to work with Democrats? Long story short; it's to avoid his presidency from shattering either one way or another. And no, it's probably not going to work.
