PHOTO: Incidents in global nations rise concerns of a Christmas day terror attack.
After recent events around the world, many countries are beefing up their security forces as the Christian holiday is making it's way through these majority-Christian countries. Christmas is arriving, and many countries are quaking. Although the governments urge citizens to continue life as normal; here's why many aren't.
A very recent Mount Royal Times report suggested that the US, the UK, Canada, France and Italy/Vatican are the top 5 countries at risk of a terror attack this holiday season. It simply doesn't mean ISIS isn't going to strike anywhere; as in the past, they've proven their unpredictable terror attacks.
Many peaceful countries, including Canada and Australia, are at threat this year and could be considered at a major threat throughout 2018. With Australia in 6th spot, and Canada in 2nd, here's the TOP 5 most threatened-of-terror countries this season:
5. France
The main reasoning behind France in 5th spot on this list is because, unlike many previous years, 2017 saw a rather quiet news coverage of terror attacks and plots throughout the country. It can be directly related to ISIS' significant targets placed on neighboring countries in Europe and America this year.
However, with a remaining significant terror threat on the people of France, we can never be sure when ISIS is likely to strike. When considering Christian countries of which may be targeted by the terror group; France, with it's countless very famous cathedrals and churches/holy regions, it's clear France can always be a target.
4. Italy/Vatican City
The extremely Christian-Catholic country of Italy, as well as the technically independent city-state of the Vatican City or 'Holy See' made this list after ISIS issued direct threats to the Vatican's Christmas prayer session on December 25th to honor the birth of Jesus; the 'son of God' as Christians believe.
All the meanwhile it's extremely likely to think ISIS may be targeting surrounding cities across Italy this next year as the country remains one of the very few to be spared of major attacks by the Islamist radicals; even after an increasing influx of refugees continue to wash up on Italian and Greek shores.
3. United Kingdom
Great Britain is part of the top three most threatened of terrorism nations this holiday season after many terror attacks scarred the nation's credibility of safety in recent years' comparison to other nations like Germany, France and Belgium. 2017 welcomed a series of attacks that killed dozens of citizens across England.
Also, recent days revealed a significant terror plot in which resulted in the RAID of 4 homes in two British cities; ending with 3 men detained and 1 being held by police. The plot was aimed at taking down Christians, potentially at nearby churches and in downtown London or Manchester. Unclear reporting has confused the incident.
2. Canada
Although Christmas may not be a specific threat to Canada this holiday season; it's clear that 2018 may welcome a series of ever-more fatal attacks throughout the extremely peaceful nation. 2017 welcomed a significant amount of small terror attacks of which hinted to authorities a terror cell may be secretly active, though hiding.
Whether or not terrorism may play a very fatal factor in Canada this end of year during the holiday season or throughout the next year remains unclear; though a few days ago, reports came in that ISIS had officially begun 'plotting attacks in Canada' in response to their aid to the American troops of which helped defeat ISIS in Iraq.
1. United States
The past year, once again, showed the United States to be at a major risk of terrorism in comparison to recent years. With ISIS' eyes set on North American countries, including some Caribbean islands, it's clear American citizens can be considered at risk of being caught up in a terror attack in major American cities.
With a recent pre-Christmas terror attack in New York City of which severely injured 5 people including the suspect as a bomb was detonated in their subway stations; as well as a foiled Christmas day terror attack in San Francisco; one of California's biggest cities, it's clear that Christmas in America is under attack by foreign terror groups this year. And we highly doubt New Year's Eve celebrations in NYC are any safer.
