The US government official Nikki Haley has used America's VETO power to overrule an Egyptian-proposed United Nations resolutions in an effort to overrule American President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, a long-time debated move approached by Democrats and Republicans.
The decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital brought condemnation from an enormous amount of global nations; including numerous US allies, like France of which said that the US moves could definitely hinder the middle eastern peace process spotting an enormous up-rise by Palestinians; who also claim Jerusalem.
Palestinians and Israelis protested severely after the US' decision, of which inevitably lead to at least 4 fatalities and over 700 injuries with dozens of reported arrests over violence that had erupted at the scene of the protests. Palestinians claimed East-Jerusalem as their capital, as Israel claimed the entire city as their's.
The White House issued a statement following the global outrage, specifically in view of the issues rising in the middle east. During Trump's speech officializing their views of Israel's capital moving from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem; he had said it was time to bring peace back to the middle-east. The White House confirmed that they knew their decision may have been a mistake, but would not retract their moves.
For many Democrats and anti-Trump activists; it was enough. Their admission that they knew their moves were wrong was the best they'd get. Unfortunately, it really wasn't close to enough for the violence erupting in the city. The Vatican and other major Christian cities announced Jerusalem, also known as the Holy City, as 'unsafe as Christmas approaches'. Sales for Bethlehem this time of year dived and crashed down.
Reports indicated that terrorists had seized missiles in Palestine and launched them towards Israel - of which Israel then responded to with more missiles. Unconfirmed reports signified nobody died; but a small amount of people had been injured as the conflict rose between the two nations self-proclaiming Jerusalem as their capitols.
Trump, during his speech, had signified that Bill Clinton, Bush and Obama had attempted to recognize Jerusalem but never fulfilled their promises. In an attempt to slash their presidential failures; he forgot to look into the main reason why three former-US presidents passed on recognizing it. They simply avoided the discussion after their election noticing the outrage it would cause.
In fact the issues that rose with President Trump's move in the middle-east deeply affected America as it inspired a terrorist in the city of New York City to rush his already-planned terror plot to bomb a US metro station. He rushed his plans to terrorize the city, which lead him to a technical failure that minimized the damage that the attacker wished to inflict.
Although one of his numerous explosives tied to his bodied partially exploded, the mayor of New York City called the attack that injured 5 citizens including the attacker a 'failed serious terror plot' that luckily did not inflict fatalities among Americans.
The FBI concluded that although the suspect had direct ties and self-proclaimed himself a member of ISIS; he also consistently mentioned Trump's moves in Palestine as an attack on the Muslim religion and on his faith of which resulted in his rush to conduct the attack in effort for Trump to overturn the moves of Jerusalem
Meanwhile, a numerous amount of Muslim-majority nations called for the US and the United Nations to rebuke their recognition of Jerusalem stating it was causing a large amount of security issues in not only Israel and Palestine, but in neighboring countries as well. Pro-Palestine protests took place in Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt and Turkey.
Egypt's proposed resolution for the UN to officially overrule the Jerusalem recognition was met with a shocking VETO overrule by the US' Nikki Haley. The US is among a selected number of worldwide countries part of the UNSC that can use VETO powers to terminate a UN-member proposed resolution.
Although slight arguments rose following the VETO; it was a final decision put in place by the US ambassador to the UN. And it really does not happen often. Official reports have signified the US has only used anywhere between 42-43 VETO's in history.
