The Islamic State is claiming responsibility fora shooting and a bombing, conducted by one attacker, in 'Bethel Memorial Methodist Church' in Quetta city of Pakistan. The attack comes as the terror group ramps up it's global and International threats specifically in goal of terrorizing Christian countries as the holiday season approaches.
According to sources, the Islamic State militants that conducted the attack failed at their ultimate goal; similar to their attack claimed in Egypt's Sinai region only a while ago at a mosque. The attack in Egypt was one of the deadliest, killing 305 citizens and injuring up to 130 other people at the scene.
Police confirmed prior reports that there had been two attackers. They stated they shot one and killed him outside of the church, but were unable to halt the second attacker who ran into the church and opened fire before detonating his explosive belt. It is unconfirmed how many of the deaths were gun-related VS bomb-related.
Up to 57 reported injuries with at least 9 fatalities were confirmed to us by our sources at this time. Of the injured, at least 8 are said to be in critical condition and up to 3 people may die due to life-threatening injuries that they may not be able to recover from. Numerous children and pregnant women were at the scene.
Police told sources that 400 people were at the church at the time as prayers enjoyed a pre-Christmas mass at the Bethel Memorial Methodist church in Quetta. This Pakistani city is very well known Internationally from overcoming from huge terror attacks. In 2016, one attack killed 74 in the city with another also killing 61. The attacks were only two months apart from one another.
The attack's target, a church, reminds global citizens of the legitimacy behind ISIS' recent threats that they made in order to impose fear upon Christians as the holiday season nears. With a specific threat against the Pope and the Vatican, last year the terror group killed 12 people at a Christmas Market in Berlin. They also murdered many citizens at a Christmas party in California's San Bernandino in 2015.
Some countries that we do think should probably watch out for Christmas terror attacks are Sweden, United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Italy, the Vatican, France and now maybe - Russia, as well.
Although you wouldn't think of Russia as one of ISIS' prime targets when it comes to slaughtering Christians, Russian Intel in cooperation with America's CIA offices foiled a terror plot - intended to have been carried out on Dec. 17 - on a Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Russia's 2nd biggest city.
The foiled plot consisted of 7 suspects planning to bomb, and shoot up, the Cathedral as well as other surrounding tourist areas - including a major shopping mall, a metro station, and quite a number of others.
