Terror attack in New York City injures 5 people
Police have confirmed an act of terrorism in America's largest city, New York City's downtown area of midtown Manhattan that has injured 5 people including the suspect known and confirmed to have been named as Akayed Ullah.
Earlier this morning, near rush hour times in NYC's downtown district of midtown Manhattan. Reports indicated the explosion was detonated inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 48th street and 8th avenue in Manhattan, right near Times Square region home to thousands of pedestrians every day - especially during that time of day.
Eye-witness reports first indicated that they heard up to two explosions, though police confirmed only one bomb was detonated. Further reports confirmed the explosion was a pipe bomb that the suspect claims he made last week. Police confirmed that the suspect was wearing 2 bombs, but only one partially detonated.
Reports confirmed by the FBI and investigative officials stated that Ullah made the pipe bombs last week at his home and at his workplace. Ullah was 27 years old and a former taxi cab driver but worked involving electrical fields with his brother in the region of Port Authority and today's bombing scene.
Officials have confirmed that Ullah's motive behind today's attack, that left three passing citizens and the suspect himself with minor injuries, may have been not only directly related to ISIS - but also encouraged by the recent rising tensions in Israel. The suspect did, however, directly pledge allegiance to the terror group of ISIS.
The suspect told police that he was extremely unhappy with Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital that sparked tensions and rocket-missile attacks between Gaza and Israeli territories.
After Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital city, tensions rose dramatically between the US, the rest of the world, Israel and Palestine. This as Palestinians wish to claim the city as their very own capital as well. Protests in the city of Jerusalem resulted with a minimum of one fatality in response to the decision. According to officials, Hamas in Palestine launched missiles towards Israel; of which they responded directly.
Tensions around the world continue to rise as the Jerusalem decision renders Bethlehem, a usually largely visited city around the time of Christmas, was deemed 'unsafe' within recent days due to escalating protests and tensions nearby.
The fact that Ullah constructed the explosion only last week may be direct connections from the terror suspect and Trump's decisive action to recognize Jerusalem. We know almost all previous administrations promised to recognize the capital city, but always backed out primarily due to extensive research that it would hinder the peace process.
Either way, the White House is counter-attacking the media's report and police reports that Trump's Jerusalem decision sparked the attack by saying that the Trump admin's immigration policy would've prevented this attack - an unproven fact at this time.
