Bernie Sanders: 'Don't jump the gun' on Trump impeachment
Bernie Sanders, who ran for office but lost to Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries of last year's 2016 election, might as well label himself as a political critic. Although he usually makes extremely fair points, and has a strong argument against most political fights between Democrats and Republicans, he is no stranger to criticize virtually every move that current President Trump has done this far.
Surprisingly, Donald Trump hasn't been too firmly attacking Bernie Sanders. Probably because he never saw Sanders as such a huge threat to his presidency, unlike Hillary Clinton. Another reason may be Trump's defense of Sanders when news broke that the DNC conspired to help elect Clinton quicker during the Democrat primaries.
However, although Bernie's strongest argument against Republicans is economical standpoints and medicare as well as health care, he has made solid points against Trump's investigations involving Russian collusion and obstruction of justice. He has also been vocal about potential impeachment of Donald Trump from presidency.
Nancy Pelosi, House minority leader, has recently been vocal about impeachment realms and advances to impeach Trump and came under heat by not only Republicans but also Democrats. She said that it was 'way too early' to begin talking about impeaching Trump, saying we should wait it out.
Republicans slammed her notice saying there was 'nothing worth impeaching the current President'. It is a continuous denial that the Russian collusion investigations and obstruction of justice cases are headed anywhere.
Democrats slammed her notice, though many avoided slamming her at all and actually agreed with her. Many Democrats decided upon themselves that it was too late to begin talks of impeachment stating that delaying the process simply wouldn't help the issue. Many Dems would say that Trump has many reasons to be impeached at the moment.
However, when it comes to Nancy Pelosi, many Democrats simply don't agree with her. In fact, a lot would encourage her to resign at the moment simply due to low favorability of her job in her position. When it comes to Bernie Sanders, his point of view is largely preferred by an extreme majority of Democrats.
So when Sanders encouraged that talks of impeachment be delayed and that Democrats and others shouldn't "jump the gun" on impeachment, many agreed with him. Because although many Democrats may really want him out of office, impeaching him may come with an unrecoverable failure.
Although articles of impeachment already made their way in the House of Representatives, they largely failed. None of the voted articles included provisions based on the Russia investigation n'or the obstruction of justice cases. And it's no surprise that even if they did include those cases, it may have failed anyways.
This specifically because the US government simply isn't ready to vote Trump out of office. Specifically Republicans in the House and the US Senate, which would all need to vote on the impeachment themselves. Also, there simply isn't enough evidence to prove that Trump has broken any impeachable offenses.
