Egypt mosque terror attack that killed 305 blamed on ISIS
And ISIS strikes again... Something all reporters and journalists hate writing, and something that all readers detest reading. But in recent years, it's become similar to a trend for reporters to report a new extremely fatal terror attack by a group with no moral values and with commitment to terror and death.
The world was shook a few days ago when the worst attack in modern Egyptian history struck the nation's region of Sinai. The region is known for being one of the most vulnerable locations for Egypt's relations and correlations to terror ambushes. Citizens from around the world were struck to their core when hearing the news.
Officials have confirmed 305 people died and up to 130 have been hospitalized in the ambush. Witnesses, police officers, militants and medics confirmed to the Mount Royal Times the horrors behind the massacre in the Sinai Sufi mosque.
Confirmed reports stated anywhere between 20 to 30 attackers triggered up to 2 explosions in a building right nearby the mosque, which lead hundreds to flee running from the mosque in fear of an attack. The attackers then began a mass shooting event that took lives of hundreds running from the mosque.
A witness told other news companies, including the New York Times, that they lost 9 of their family members in the attack. Another told CNN that they lost 6 family members. Others said they hid under dead bodies in fear of being shot.
The local terror group, of which is allied and sympathizes as well as works directly under ISIS' militants, had yet to officially claim responsibility. But police recounted that at least one of the attackers held the ISIS flag while attacking.
Military trucks rushed to the scene as screams of the attack were sounded across the small town. Upon arrival, gun fights were trigerred which terminated with the attackers running away. Egypt's leader stated a harsh response to the Sufi mosque attack would be coming shortly, and one followed rather quickly.
In the search for the many attackers, Egyptian military officials confirmed numerous airstrikes and bombings of known terror locations were aimed at killing suspects. At this time, we couldn't confirm if and how many people died in the retaliation attack.
Egypt is not a stranger to attacks by terror groups nearby. ISIS claimed the intentional crash of a passenger jet that killed well over 200 people a while ago, as well as many attacks on places of worship for Christian citizens. Not too long ago this year, attacks in two Egyptian cities (including Alexandria) targeted Christian churches on holiday mass ceremonies killing well over 50 people.
However, this is definitely one of the most tragic attacks on a mosque in the country. Attacks on mosques within North America have also been on the increase recently; however not because of ISIS - but because of Islamophobia. A terror attack in Quebec City killed 6 at a mosque. Another hate attack burnt down a mosque in the US around the same time as the massacre in Canada.
