Thanksgiving Day parade experiences most security ever amid terror threat
To be clear, no direct terror threat was made towards this year's Macy's day parade of 2017 by any known terror group. At least that we know of. But it's only been a few weeks since America's biggest city suffered a massive terror attack.
Not too long ago, an Uzbekistan immigrant rammed a stolen truck into at least 20 people and citizens on a bike path in New York City. Officials declared 8 had died, and the other 12 citizens were injured and hospitalized.
Out of 8 deaths; 5 were from Argentina, and 1 was from Belgium. This isn't the first time the majority of fatalities in a terror attack are tourists; like the Tunis terror attack at a beach years ago, also conducted by Islamic extremist militants.
The fear rose following the largest terror attack in NYC since 9/11, coincidentally very close to the World Trade Center region attacked in 2001, of the potential of another terror attack in the city during Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. Months prior to the attack, a Canadian man was arrested for plotting to attack NYC as well. The city also suffered at least 1 bombing last year that injured 30 people.
The threat was real. With the press of a button, thousands of people could be caught up in a severe terror attack at the jam packed Thanksgiving Day Parade of 2017 as a major holiday comes up in America to introduce over a month of upcoming holidays.
A recent threat on Christian holidays made by ISIS on Christmas markets and masses had already been considered a threat to nations like Italy, the Vatican, America, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium and numerous others. However, we also know thousands gather on the Thanksgiving holiday.
Currently it seems with New York City police's enhanced security, the citizens attending the infamous parade in the city are saved from any form of terror, panic or incidents. NY had recently said that there'd be officers at every block, but recent reports from people at the location claim there's officers between every block as well.
Heavy police trucks and anti-terror operations unit trucks and vehicles were seen spotted right off the main route of the parade in case of an emergency.
