MOORE FALLOUT: Trump quiet on Moore, loud on Clinton, Franken, UCLA, North Korea
US President's silence regarding Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, in our opinion, is one of his worst controversies and most heartless decisions this far. With almost everyone speaking out against Moore, Trump has kept his silence.
At first, even left-wing media organizations as well as right-wing organizations like CNN and Fox News were saying Trump was remaining silent on Moore to avoid controversy rising about his own 12-18 accusations, or simply to avoid the conversations resurfacing about the topics of sexual assault that risked his candidacy last year.
During Trump's campaign, over a dozen women came out and accused then-candidate for the Republican party of sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual abuse and in some cases even as far as accusations of rape. Trump had denied all accusations, saying they were lying and that once he became president; they'd be sued.
Now that Trump is President, none of the women were sued and after being asked; Sarah Sanders speaking for the White House said that the official White House stance on Trump's accusers are, essentially, that they are all lies and fake stories.
Once Roy Moore was accused, now by up to eight or nine women of sexual abuse, assault and harassment, Trump remained silent. Although Sarah Sanders said that he remained firm on the stance that Alabama voters should decide the fate of Moore; not a single tweet or statement was shared regarding the accused pedophilia.
However, Trump didn't hold back from tweet-storming about Hillary Clinton, North Korea, and even stuff as useless as the UCLA players he aided while in China. He slammed the UCLA players' release, saying he should've left them in a Chinese jail because the father's of one of the players downplayed Trump's role in their release.
By far, the most heartless and incredibly idiotic statement by Trump was his hypocrisy shown while attacking twice-accused Democratic senator Al Franken, accused of groping two women in 2006 and in 2010. He tweet-stormed him, saying that the acts were disgusting and questioned further actions the senator had done to Leeann Tweeden; the Los Angeles news anchor accusing Franken of sexual misconduct.
The hypocrisy shown by Trump in this statement was vivid: Trump stayed silent on the accusations against Roy Moore, a Republican, but didn't hold back from attacking Al Franken, a Democrat. Why was he prioritizing political parties in this situation?
Up until then, most Republicans had stated they do not support Moore and do think that his actions should be denounced just as evenly as Al Franken's. Although, obviously, the left-wing media focus stayed on Moore as the right shifted towards Franken.
Trump has yet to make any forms of statements, but even after Trump rose controversy about the situation, most Republicans continue to back anti-Moore issues. This includes right-wing media systems like Fox News and Alabamian newspapers.
Kellyane Conway, on the other hand, began siding with Trump's silence on the issue saying that the Republican Party and the White House needed the victory to be in favor of Moore to guarantee their tax reforms in the Senate. Later, the White House said they did not agree with Kellyane in a press briefing.
