Analysis: Where do current leading news brands stand in terms of ideology?
Though Fox News may be leading with the largest counts in viewers within the United States, and CNN may be leading one of the largest International news agencies based in the US or the UK, it's no surprise that both of them are in quite a pickle. Both favoring their ideologies, like most news agencies, have been called out by both sides of the spectrum for being 'fake' news if they don't share stories based off their opinions.
But, in a shocking twist, we've found that numerous viewers of major channels/papers like Fox, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, Washington Post, New York Times, etc. are actually from the opposing side of the spectrum (the side that dislikes the news company).
There's many theories surrounding this reason; but the most logical one is that most people just want to see what the other side thinks and are curious about how the opposite side reports major issues in political headlines.
Following our analysis, we've concluded that most of the 'curious viewers', the ones watching the channel/paper of their opposing sides of the political spectrum, are Liberals and left-wing citizens. They tend to be more curious and try to inform themselves to different types of reporting, unlike Conservatives/Republicans and right-wing citizens that tend to stick to what they believe in.
Fox News Channel
Starting with the most controversial one; Fox News manages to attract one of the largest viewer scales in America, beating it's competitors slightly and is actually being threatened by growing agencies like CNN, MSNBC and a few others. Fox attracts, in our analytic studies, a 13% left-wing viewing, 20% moderate viewing and an overwhelming 67% right-wing viewing as this would be the Republican channel of choice.
CNN News Channel
One of the fastest growing and most watched news companies in the United States and around the world, CNN has gotten itself into quite a pickle of controversy and managed to flow out a lot of it's Republican/Conservative base during last year's election coverage of which the company was called bias. Only around 6% of it's viewers are generally right-wing, with 34% in moderate range and 60% left-wing.
MSNBC News Channel
This news agency is also one of the fastest growing American-based news agencies, and finds itself dealing itself with some 'bias coverage' controversy for 'unfairly depicting' headlines that are typically anti-Trump, though this is arguable. The company gathers around 8% right-wing viewers, 41% moderate viewers and 51% left-wingers.
New York Times Paper
The New York Times is one of the most popular news sources in America, though along with it's company allies like CNN, Washington Post and other liberal sources; it has been called 'fake' and 'bias' by Republicans. Around the time of their postings, the website gathers around 18% right-wing viewers, 31% moderates and 51% left-wings.
Washington Post Paper
This website, as we've mentioned above, is an ally or similar company to New York Times' reporting and gathers quite similar numbers in terms of comparison to their ideological standpoints. They get around 14% right-wings, 33% moderates and 53% left-wing or liberal viewers on their site.
Breitbart News
This website is one of the leading most controversial news agencies up to date after re-hiring Steve Bannen once he was ousted from his White House position due to tensions and stark remarks as well as controversy that stained his name. It is an almost entirely die-hard Republican and Conservative agency, gathering 1% left-wing, 3% moderates and 96% of their viewers would generally resemble a conservative citizen.
